Now if it would only put the URL into the file's comment field like Netscape & MSIE did in OS 7, 8 & 9!

yes! I was just going to add the same comment. I really miss seeing where i originally got a file, say an image or video clip, months afterwards.

good lord I miss that one too.
I wonder if it could be duplicated with a downloads folder-folder action...?

Agreed! Please bring back this feature!

I think everyone agrees this is a missed feature. From the OS9 days when macs were just useful... OS X has come a LONG way, but OS9 still has features of usability that are still missing.

One feature at a time, bring them all back! Please!

Don't say everyone... I hated OS9, in fact I would say that OS9 was the worst OS I had ever used. OSX is the only thing that kept me on a Mac...

URL in Finder comment
Authored by: sjk on Feb 09, '04 09:05:46PM

OmniWeb 4.5 and 5.0b1 add the download URL to the Finder comment field. Unfortunately it wasn't 100% reliable in 4.5. Downloading in 5.0b1 generally has some bugs so it's too early to tell if it'll be any different.

Using Show Info files to double-check if the URL comment has been added or not is a hassle but still less of one than having to manually add it. At least the comment field sticks open in Panther.
