eMacs don't work with AT-SDR=n (Distinctive Ring)
eMacs don't seem to work with this hint:
See also Mangee's post on NZMac.com Forums Does anyone know much about the (USB? internal) modems in the newer Apples? I have a eMac with a modem reportedly (SystemProfiler and ATI0I1I2I3I4I5I6I7) an internal USB MicroDash (v.92) Australia 7.0
It won't OK a standard AT-SDR=0 (distinctive ring) command. I was wondering if anyone knew if it can handle Distinctive Rings? It would only be a firmware update to fix it!
To try it on your machine download Zterm (OSX) and try the commands AT-SDR=0 (turn off distinctive rings) and AT-SDR=1(only listen to type 1 distinctive rings). While ur there try a AT#MDL?#MFR? (lists model and make of modem). Modem doesn't need to be connected to phoneline. My Strawberry iMac G3/333 (Conexant V.90 Australia 7.0F) and my Snow iMac G3/600 (Rockwell v.90 AC/K56) both do it fine.. but the eMac G4/700 doesn't like it. For that matter the AT#MDL? and #MFR? commands don't work on the eMac modem either... Is there a guide to eMac modem commands around? Is Apple limiting the modem on the "low end/cheap" range: eMacs?

This is a little off topic about the fax ringing but it seems you know some of the AT codes for the eMac modem. I am looking for the complete list or just the Caller ID on/off commands.
Caller ID Settings
Have a look at http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n24775 or just Google "Modem AT Commands" |
