Also works with Geektool
Authored by: kirbysdl on Jan 29, '04 03:20:38PM
Geektool ( versiontracker link ) is a free app that I use to display things like top, firewall logs, and other system bits on my desktop. The problem (as described above) is that I can't use Expose to clear away windows and let me see my geektool listings. When I do, geektool also gets cleared off to the edges.

What I think I'll do is launch Desktop Manager on startup, then set a shell script to sleep for a few seconds and then send a graceful HUP to Desktop Manager. I don't use multiple desktops, but I could use the residual feature/bug that Desktop Manager would give me.

The following is untested. Your mileage may suck.

#!/bin/bash
open /[path to Desktop Manager]/Desktop\ Manager.app
sleep 15
killall -SIGHUP 'Desktop Manager'
