Manage and use photos with iPhoto4 and iView Media Pro
Authored by: nickvisic on Jan 21, '04 01:58:04AM

i used to hate that iphoto put files in it's own, mystical, magical way until iphoto 4. the way i sort my entire library is by rolls. i name a roll and date it, and then use the little triangle to hide the rolls i'm not seeing. however, not until iphoto 4 could i move a picture from roll to roll. this is so sweet! who cares now where the files are located? i use the rolls as "virtual" folders. the rolls keep the photos in order.

later,
nick

A hint within a hint! I hadn't realized I could now move pictures between rolls. That was a big nit of mine in previous releases.

I've also noticed that iPhoto4 brings back the rolls of iPhoto CDs created with the old iPhoto.

The biggest drawback of iphoto is that it does not support Raw files from my Canon EosD10 or from any other pro camera which makes it absolutly unusable in a professional workflow. It's sad because the interface is really nicer than Iview's. I don't understand why Iphoto does not use IPTC Tag like itunes uses MP3 tag. It would be so cool.
