Avoid P800 probs...reply to clmensch
better/worse aside, its quicker. when your development is tied to ROI and your own personal financial reward, you will think of other priorities rather than despising a given platform for your own reasons and will value the client's and the business priorities more than your own. as a professional developer, i can use the *same* MobileVB code and deploy to symbian OS (UIQ,series 60, nokia 9200 and 36xx/76xxx), palm os 3;4;5, pocket pc 2000,2k2,and 2k3 with the only changes being screen-related and what method i choose of storing data (use sybase ultralite for the data-storage choice and you only have to modify the screens). tell me how quickly you can comp, develop and deploy an app in c or java (yes i do those, but not because i like them, but for business reasons) to any or all of the above platforms? i thought so. you would do yourself, not to mention your clients if you develop s/w professionally, a favor if you checked it out and got over the M$ prejudice; i've all apple hardware in my home/ home-office, but outside that i have the rule "i'll take anyone's money" that applies to client/business choices. fwiw, i constantly hammer the fellows at appforge for a version to run inside RealBASIC. |
