SCSI CD Burner
Make sure you have the most current Adaptec Drivers (1.0.2) and after you install the the SCSI CD software, Restart, just logging out and back in will not work. You may want to check your SCSI id's just to make sure there is no conflict.
SCSI CD Burner
The patch worked for me to the extent that I was able to burn an audio CD with Toast 5.1p2 using my external Yamaha 8424S and Adaptec 2930U card (I've got a stock G4/400/AGP). I had to reinstall iTunes v2.0.2 after installing Toast and the patch for the drive to be seen in Toast. (In fact, both the Finder and iTunes now recognize the drive and will attempt to write to it, but fail attempting to initialize a session -- 'an unknown error occurred (-1)'.)
more on kernel panics...
Looks like my kernel panics when reading data from this drive occur whether the El Gato patch is in place or not. My guess is a problem in the Adaptec kernel extension (both 1.0.2 and 1.0.0b exhibit it) or in Apple's IOKit. I've submitted a couple of reports so we'll see what happens. No big deal, at least I can burn discs now.

Ah still no luck, I guess i'll have to fiddle with it a little more. |
