10.3: Create a visual 'sending account' indicator in Mail.app
Authored by: lpb2h on Jan 02, '04 04:46:47PM

I had the same problem in Jaguar mail. It's quite a pain not to be able to quickly choose the sender account. So I wrote an AppleScript which I've tested on jaguar only. Don't know if it
works under 10.3.

tell application "Mail"
set newMessage to make new outgoing message
--change the msgSender assignment to exactly match the
-- username and email address of your account as it
-- is known to Mail.app, e.g.,
-- I would write "Luc Beaudoin <lucb@myISP.net>"
set msgSender to ("MyName <yourAccount@yourISP.domain>")
set the sender of newMessage to msgSender
tell newMessage
set visible to true
end tell
activate
end tell

lpb2h, thanks for posting tha Applescript.

I desperately am looking for a way to either a) manually set the account of the open, currently selected message, or b) create a new message and set everything via an Applescript, including the To, cc, Subject and other fields. Your script is *almost* what I am looking for -- is there a way to either change the account of the current open message, or else order Mail to make a message and fill in the body, to, subject and other fields as needed?

(The issue is that I run several websites and need Filemaker to be able to create outgoing mail for each proper website depending on which site the customers bought from.)

Can you or someone help??
