Android - nice but not good
Authored by: Evil B on Jan 02, '04 07:25:18AM

Can't get past level 5 because i can't jump high enough. I had the same problem in level 3, as a solution i quit all open applications and indeed i could jump higher, but this doesn't work in level 5 anymore. I'm using a iMac DV SE 500 mhz which should be good enough (there is nothing on minimum system requirements in the help-file).

Anyway a game that lets you jump & all related to processor speed doesn't deserve (IMHO) 9 stars.

evil B, I'm having the very same problem, on the same computer. Frustrating, isn't it?

So... there's not some special trick that we're overlooking? I've tried dropping bombs on the spikes but that doesn't work. :^p

Dropping bombs on spikes doesn't work, eh? Darn, I just thought of that hoping it might work!

I wasn't able to gang up the trampolines to get higher, and running towards the trampoline doesn't help me clear it. I'm using a 400MHz Pismo with no other apps running. And it does seem odd that processor speed would make a difference in whether the game cna be played or not. I got really odd jumping behavior when Eudora was bouncing its icon in the dock while the game was going on in the foreground!

The Help file refers to 'windowed' as opposed to 'full screen' mode, but I have no idea how to get that (or if it's possible).

I can see potential for the game, but there has to be some way beyond the third group of spikes in level 5. The help file mentioned that you can walk sideways through the spikes without dying, but you can't land on them without the ouch.

Back to the drawing board.

Finally got through level 5 spikes! As you jump, wait until you are almost higher than the spikes, then hit hard right. I swung all the way over to the right and grabbed the vine. Startled me, since I never expected it to work. And I haven't had to repeat that jump yet.

hmm... i can't get past the first set of spikes on level one (i.e. i can't get ANYWHERE) because i can't jump high enough. ok, i just have a 500mHz ibook, but dang, I never had that problem with lode runner on a 4mHz apple ][...

quiting all open applications is usually the thing you have to do.
But if you can't make the first jump, i wouldn't really bother playing it.
