try using sudo command
 sudo rm -r <.kext file you want to delete>

In 10.3, you should be able to delete any file as an admin user. It will ask you to "authenticate" and you will be able to carry out that action.

I know that I should be able to delete the file but couldn't. Don't know why.

have you looked at who the ownder is, might be root. just sudo rm <file that is playing up and must be killed>
