Actually, during one install, you can double-click on another package in the Finder and open it up, and Installer will automatically put it in a queue. So you'll have two Installer windows open with one telling you that it's waiting for the other install to finish.

Yes, but what if you want to install with a different installer, or just plain don't want to restart yet because you know there's no ill effects and you'd rather finish what you were doing?

I understand if you simply don't want to restart, but what do you mean "if you want to install with a different installer"? The point is, you can install more than one package before quitting Installer. Anyway, what's the difference between a Dock-based quit and a fore quit?
