10.3: Workaround for GeForce4MX install troubles
I just updated the OS X on my Sawtooth G4 500 AGP with the 10.3.2 developer preview. It includes new drivers dated December 4, and ta-da... I now a 23" Cinema HD Display working off a Geforce4 MX card. QuartzExtreme is working.
10.3: Workaround for GeForce4MX install troubles
It should be pointed out that it's not just ANY G4 that doesn't provide power to run the ADC port on the GeForce2, GeForce4, etc video cards--it's only specifically the G4 AGP that has this problem. All other G4 models run both ports on these video cards under OS 10.3.1 just fine. But it's nice to see that, with OS 10.3.2, Apple finally may have stooped from their high perch, to give us mortals our video cards back. Now I'll be waiting to see if they fixed the video drivers for even earlier, PCI slot video cards like the ATI Xclaim (and other cards that use the Rage Pro chipset, different from the Rage Pro 128, which works fine under 10.3.1), 3dfx Voodoo, Formac Proforma, and maybe others. |
