This happens with Services shortcuts
Authored by: Cantus on Dec 03, '03 09:24:09PM

This bug is related to unresponsive shortcuts in the Services menu of any application. I believe it has been present since Jaguar.

(The Services menu in under the application's Application menu, which is the leftmost menu bearing the name of the application in bold)

It works like this:

•You know a keyboard shortcut from the Services menu that you know it will be active in application X.
•You launch application X.
•You hit this shortcut using the keyboard.
•You hear a beep, and nothing happens. You keep trying and nothing. Only beeps.

How do you fix this?

You simply click the Application menu to display it! (or you can use Control-F2 to display the menu if you have Keyboard Navigation enabled in System Preferences.)

Now you hit the same shortcut with the keyboard again and it works.

Well, Alleluia!

You only have to display this menu once after launching the application if you want Services shortcuts to respond.

This is a very annoying bug that I hope Apple fixes soon.
