10.3: Make shortcuts in the Finder's File menu work again

I've seen occasionally that an application's main window loses
focus and you can't click-select it (for example, Safari). When I
see that, I cmd-tab to select another running application, then
switch back to the one that wasn't focused and it fixes it. I wonder
whether the Finder might sometimes have that sort of issue (but
this may not be relevant to the keyboard shortcuts;). Larry.

I've had the unresponsive-window-in-the-background problem with Mail.app. If I recall, I used Force Quit to solve that ("take that! you *&^%# program!"), but this is obviously overkill. I will try the Command-Tab solution next time it happens. Thanks.

I have encountered this too, but just clicking on the icon of the unresponsive app in the Dock brings its focus back for me.
