I had this happen on my work machine, but not my home machine, and I can't figure out why. However, the Terminal provided a handy workaround. Assuming you have the application sitting in the Dock Extras folder, try this:

% cp "/Applications/Dock Extras/SlashDock.dock/Contents/Resources/SlashDock.config.plist" ~/Library/Preferences

This will copy the file out to your Prefs folder; you can now return to the GUI to edit it.

Quite odd to have this problem with the same downloaded disk image, both downloaded with Mozilla, and only have it on one of my two machines. I checked the Permissions in the Terminal, and everything looks good with the file, so I'm not sure what's up.
