That's a great tip as well, but you still have to type in the path to the folder you want to go to. With this tip, you simply hit command + shift + D and you're in your Documents folder. If you decide to add the Favorites menu, that would be command + shift + F. I've found the Go to folder helpful when navigating to buried folders on my harddrive, but to me it's just a little bit to much typing when you can use a shortcut key combo instead. ;)
