Apple needs to get going with Keynote development and add in a timeline feature to have music play throughout a presentation. I've sent them feedback numerous times on this, and I've yet to see it in Keynote.

The last point you mentioned is how our department does it. We set up a general timing for sections, then put together some edited music and play it through iTunes in the background. I wish we didn't have to keep using workarounds though. Apple, please add this feature in already!

And rob is right, the QT export will ask you to set up timing up front, and will not allow you to control the timing of transitions when played, which defeats some of Keynotes usefulness.

Slightly OT...I've seen about three of the feature requests I have submitted get added into upgrades to certain Apple software products.

Nothing too innovative, actually, kind of obvious things like playing a soundtrack throughout a presentation. (I submitted a request to make timeout/disconnect of network shares a bit more friendly, cuz I would forget to logout and take my PB on the road, and man it would take forever to timeout. Now a new feature in Panther, btw) I think they let customer feedback drive their development priorities.
