Interesting tip--

Any way to choose my external Firewire CD/RW which is much faster than the one built in to my Ti-Book?

Yes, just type "man drutil" in the terminal and look at the DRIVE SELECTION CRITERIA section.

As the man drutil states:

drutil tray close -drive 1
Closes the tray of the first burning device seen, if possible.
drutil info -drive external
Lists drive specific information for all externally
connected burning devices.
drutil status -drive firewire
Lists media specific information for media present in
attached firewire burning devices.
drutil tray open -drive VENDOR
Opens the tray of all burning devices whose vendor id is
VENDOR, if possible.
drutil getconfig supported -drive 'CD-RW CDW827ES'
Lists supported features and profiles for attached devices
whose product id is 'CD-RW CDW827ES'.

So you can control any drive connected to the Mac.
