10.3: Reduce PDF file size when printing to PDF
Authored by: Mikey-San on Nov 14, '03 01:10:48PM

I tried this just now with some word processing documents (all text, no images), and there was no change. :-(

I was really hopin', too . . . Seems that from Jaguar to Panther, PDF size has ROCKETED up. The same file saved in Jaguar as PDF, which was then 80 KB, is now 228 KB. Stupid Apple.

Ah well.

No longer so stupid. Please read the "10.3: Use ColorSync Utility for PDF refinement" hint. You can create personalised settings to make your PDFs even smaller. OS X is really becoming the best OS in this world.....

See, though, this doesn't apply to me. That's for image compression; I'm talking about text documents that have ballooned up from Jag to Panther.

Word processing files used to print to PDF smaller than Word files. Now they don't. WTF?

Maybe the default is know to include the fonts, and that was not the case before?

I printed a lot of stuff to PDF before Panther, and my fonts always carried with the document.

Go figure, I guess.
