Authored by: sphen on Nov 01, '01 08:15:15PM
how does one mount a share on a smb server if its name has a space in it?

for example:
if the computer is zion and share is new music, i can get files in terminal by typing smbclient //zion/"new music", but i havent found a way to do it in the finder. I have tried a whole bunch of things but cant get past the space. any help?

thanks

In mac os x as well as other Unixes, the escape character is the \
Therefore, when referencing a file with spaces, use "\ "
For example, suppose you had a folder on your desktop for user guest called "My Folder", the absolute path would be:

/Users/guest/Desktop/My\ Folder/

According to AppleCare Knowledge base you can't type a space but you can use %20 which will
act like a space.
