Watch out for mv command and symlinks on Samba shares
Authored by: Spades on Nov 06, '03 11:58:39AM

The problem is probably Samba. Last I knew, Samba is not quite the same as other unix filesystems, but 3.0 may be different. Unless it has changed, I don't think Samba creates symlinks the same way other filesystems do. There could be many different types of filesystems on the other side of Samba, including ones that don't support symlinks like FAT32. Because of this, symlinks on Samba are a little bit of a hack. I think the problem isn't a mv bug, but a Samba issue.
