10.3 Print Setup Utility fails with renamed Utilities folder

There actually is a way to rename system folders without breaking your system.

First make sure the folder is named properly (default name), but using Terminal to check. So for instance, if you renamed Utilities "CowMoo", then you'd do in Terminal mv /Applications/CowMoo /Applications/Utilites

Then, browse your way to /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemFolderLocalizations. Pick the subfolder for your language, so in this case en.lproj. Open the lone file that resides in any of the language folder using a text editor.

Find the line that reads

"Utilities" = "something";

And change the something for the name of the Utilities folder you want (for the language you selected). Save, relaunch the Finder and enjoy.

You will most likely need to either use BBEdit to authorize the save action, or chmod the file and folder to allow you to save.
