more reasons not to rename the utilities folder

When you run Software Update, it looks in /Applications/Utilities to upate your software. If you rename that folder to something else, then you will not get a proper software update.

Unlike OS 9, you should not rename or move any folder that is made by the system.

Actually OS 9 didn't like it much either. I had a friend who moved his Utilities folder, and when he would have a crash, DiskFirstAid wouldn't run during reboot. Moving the folder back to its original location fixed that.

Instead, just add a symbolic link.

cd /Applications
ln -s Utilities " Utilities"

Could you do this with an alias in the Finder? Maybe. I'm a Unix person, so I rarely use Finder.
