10.3: Open new, close old windows from the sidebar
Authored by: avonterr on Nov 01, '03 10:15:08AM

It seems that using Option-Click on either a sidebar item or an item in a finder window opens the window with the finder settings previously saved.

For example, for my Apps window, I prefer to have the Sidebar shrunk down to show only the icons. If have some window open with the sidebar showing Names and Icons, and I just click on Apps in the sidebar, the window is shown the same way. If I Option-click, a new window is created with the Sidebar showing only icons.

It seems that when you close a finder window, the size, location, sidebar info, etc. are saved with the window. Using Option-click (or Command-click) retrieves the saved settings, while Plain-Old-click does not.
