10.3: Resolve feature in Font Book may cause problems
I've been experiencing troubling behavior with Panther that may very well be related to this. I'm running a fresh install of Panther on a 15 inch Aluminum PowerBook. I performed some Font Book duplicate resolutions two nights ago, and since then, my system goes into berserker mode where applications refuse to launch (including Mail, iCal, Address Book, Safari, and certain System Preference preference panes, including Accounts). I log out and log in as a different user, fix permissions, and then log back in, and things are usually okay for a little while- then, back to berserker mode. I hadn't thought that this might be related to Font Book until seeing this post.
10.3: Resolve feature in Font Book may cause problems
I have had similar problems with both Safari and Mail, though I have not used the resolve font feature. I think there may actuallly be one or more corrupted fonts on my machine that may be clashing with FontBook and the Internet apps. I have found that if I leave FontBook open everything works. It's not a great solution, but it's a workaround until someone finds a better solution. |
