A fix for a Powerbook intermittently waking when closed
Authored by: TC_ on Oct 31, '03 12:22:54PM

When iBooks or PowerBooks have these problems, one of the following is usually to blame:

1. When the lid is closed, it's pressing against the keyboard, causing the computer to wake up.

2. The "reed switch" is broken. Depending on the model, the computer either has a magnet in the lid and a magnet-detecting switch in the base, or vice versa. If the magnet becomes demagnetized, the switch will cease to work completely. In other instances, the switch itself breaks or becomes erratic, producing erratic behavior.
