Use Internet Sharing to enable wireless PC net access
Authored by: dyera on Oct 31, '03 09:45:28AM

This site has been a Godsend.
I have a <DLS MODEM> to <LINKSYS ROUTER> to <17" Panther iMac w/ AirPort card> to <XP Laptop w/ LinkSys WPC-11>. Using the excellent info in the above posts I finally have the XP Laptop talking to the iMac, but there are 2 problems.

(1) The XP Laptop cannot browse the Internet. I can Ping "microsoft.com, apple.com, etc." When I run a TraceRt from the PC I see the iMac, Linksys router. Then nothing. When I try a browser I cannot get to any site using either IP addresses or symbolic names. It is as if the Linksys router will not let data sent from the XP laptop come back through.

(2) On the iMac I can login to the XP Laptop. But I can not login FROM the XP Laptop to the iMac. When I try to login from the XP Laptop to the iMac I have tried BOTH the IP address "192.168.1.100" and IP address + directory as in "192.168.1.100\accountName"

Any ideas?
