you almost got it.

do this:
drag
command-tab
drag on top of the target app (which selects it)
let go of command tab (keep mouse button down)
then release the drag over the target app's window

works fine!

Ahh. But what I think he meant was.. i.e.

  • Take a text file/image file, etc. Start Dragging it
  • Hold down cmd-tab to bring up list of apps
  • Drop the file onto the app icon, thus opening it.
  • As far as I can tell, you cannot do that. Would be nice though.
