...but what's even cooler about this feature is that the option key isn't necessary - you cna just hit R for restart, S for sleep, etc.

now let's hope apple gets on the ball and makes a keyboard with a power switch again. i miss being able to restart or shut down a headless mac in two keystrokes, just listening for the beep when the shutdown dialog pops up.

the option key works in the spetial menu also! shutdown pop to restart as you press option! NOTE in final, restart will be an option in the apple menu.

whats wrong with a 3rd party keyboard? the MicroConnections USB Falvored keyboard is a nice one.

well, the apple keyboard is really very nice. it's got a good feel, and i think it's the best one they've had since the old ADB extended keyboard [one of the best keyboards, ever].

it was a lame decision to remove the power switch, because it makes the assumption you have a new apple monitor with a switch. on my G4/500, i had recurring problems with the power switch on the front of the box, and my calls to apple all began with "ok, for now you can use the power switch on the monitor to restart, while you wait for the replacement to arrive at your repair center." only, i don't have an apple monitor - which meant my G4 was out of commission [twice] for several days at a time while parts were ordered.
