G5 keyboard fails on certain Belkin Omniview KVM switches

Well, got under my desk and tried moving the keyboard to any other port other than the keyboard. Most of the time, the mouse would not be recognized in the keyboard port and when anything else was plugged into the keyboard port, the KVM would beep nonstop. In the meantime, i have stopped key repeats so that 2, 4 ,6, and 8's don't repeat nonstop. It still doesn't stop the auto CAPS LOCK from happening.

oh yeah, I forgot to mention, whenever I turn on the Mac, my Superdrive automatically ejects the tray and it closes when i shut down (if it's closed already, it stays closed). Wierd huh?

As far as power draw, i've been able to hook up a bus-powered USB zip drive to the keyboard without issues, so maybe the power theory has some i don't have any other keyboard, but i like this one, because the keys don't feel so soft like the Apple, Microsoft, and Logitech keyboards.

I bought the Belkin SOHO 2-port USB with audio at CompUSA with my employee discount, but I know I won't be recommending it anytime soon to anyone, especially in a Mac/PC environment. If we sold an IOGEAR usb KVM, I would trade mine in for that, as a friend of mine has one that works, and I've verified my keyboard works on it.

I'm gonna be hitting up the Belkin rep at work, but I have a feeling he's just there to sell stuff and probably don't know jack about any tech stuff.

Here's hoping for a firmware fix..better keep my cable handy just in case, if I can find it.

I borrowed an HP USB keyboard without any USB ports on it and hoped this would solve the problem, but I still experience the random characters (though not as much) and the autolocking of CAPSLOCK. Verrry annoying. Gonna have to bite the bullet and try a different KVM, as I don't want to have two separate keyboards for two computers.

Has anyone had any luck using a PS2 keybaord with a USB adapter? I've seen keyboard specific ones, but haven't tried it yet.
