I have a problem that if my machine is asleep (also sometimes overnight) when I come back my keyboard and mouse no longer respond (the mouse is plugged into one of the USB ports on the keyboard, and the keyboard plugged into a 4 port USB hub which is full).
There's an alert message on screen saying there isn't enough power to power the device (but the alert doesn't actually mention ~which~ device). I have to reset my box...

I wonder if this tip (mentioned in the article above) will help? I guess I'll find out in the morning ;) I never had these problems with OS 9.x...

I understand that the Deep Sleep issue of the original post is now solved with the Power Mac G4 Firmware Update 4.2.8 (North American). A number of people say that this firmware upgrade has solved the deep sleep issue with Adaptec cards, maybe it will solve your pwer problem too.
