What am I doing wrong???

Hello fuz_bal !

Well, as for your size problem: If the source (the original CD) is larger than 630 MB , but if you limit the size of _one_ Disk Image to 630MB, then Disk Copy will naturely create a second Image in order to "represent" all of the source (the original CD). You see Disk Copy tries to _copy_ your CD. If you don't allow it to do so in one, it'll make it in two. Reducing the maximum size does not imply higher compression :-(
As for "On another note, when I place a blank CDR in my drive, I always get a window asking me to "prepare" the CDR. If I say "No" then Disk Copy doesn't "see" the CDR; if I say "Yes" then it takes up 8 MB "preparing" the CDR. Is this supposed to happen?"
Yes, that's supposed to happen. The "preparing" is essential. The 8MB shouldn't harm you since they're discarded after the burn is finished.
