Fink Rocks!
You guys should check out the Fink package manager.
It automates the installation of lots of unix software, including XFree86 (418 packages, right this minute). I have been using it for several months now, and I have only had two or three packages fail to compile (and they were all from the unstable tree). P.S. If you are Finking XFree86 on 10.1, you will get a keyboard error. (you can only tell if you launch from the Terminal). The solution for this can be found in the FinkFAQ
