Mounting SMB shares with large file counts

Yes, you can use the terminal and mount any remote volume using the mount command however, you should test the interaction between the Finder and the rest of the OS.
My experiments showed that if you mount a volume in the Terminal then the Finder does not know about the mount until it is restarted and the Finder cannot unmount the volume even with a logout.

Mounting SMB shares with large file counts

This is the behavior I expected. AMD (Automount Daemon) mounts volumes based on who the user is. By bypassing AMD, I expect to have to mount and umount manually.
