Hiding users?
Authored by: babbage on Oct 10, '01 01:36:58PM

Hrm. Is this a definitive, final answer? I want our iMac to work such that my fiance & I can log
in graphically -- I don't want to make her have to keep track of a UN/PW combination if I can
help it -- but at the same time I don't want anyone to be tempted to log in as MySQL, Postgres,
etc. I'd love to figure out a fine-grained way to address this like other X-Windows login
mechanisms provide...

Hiding users?

I can't say anything definite, I'm sorry to say; but if there's any solution, it will probably be from within NetInfo. There's a link to a NetInfo manual on the links page on this site.
But I do believe that there is a possible solution. Sure, Apple could have used a hack to hide www, daemon, root, etc., but why do that instead of specifying a NetInfo solution?
