A potential multiple users login bug

I work as a system administrator in a school. All our accounts are set up just like that, and all our macs have two partitions (not physical harddrives though). I've not seen it once (at about 60 macs). After seeing this post, I tried it at our video-editing-machines (these are the only ones with two physical harddrives), and then the error popped up each time I logged in...

But I also noticed that even when unchecking the "Change password"-box, the users still manage to change their password? The button i the "My Account" pref pane is greyed ot, but in the "Accounts"-pane, they might still change it (of course, this only work if the account-capabilities are set to "Open All System Preferences" without "Change Password", otherwise they might not access the accounts-pane).

This had been driving me nuts!

Once again, MacOSX hints helped me out.

I have 3 kids that also "share" my mac. One of my kids has been getting the same message everytime he logs in.
After reading this tip, I check out his user preferences and sure enough the "Change Password" was dissabled for his account. My other kids have never had this problem nor my wife. After looking at their configurations the "Change Password" box was selected.
Thanks for the help.... Again!

Now I can sleep at night! ;-)

Got the same problem on non-admin accounts on two Macs running 10.2.6 with two HDs each. It appears (at least on my machines) that 'Remove items from the Dock' AND 'Change password' have to be checked to get rid of this error message. Btw, I played around with all kind of combinations of the other settings on this pane. That does not make me too happy, of course, as I am in charge for a lab environment and now have to see how to lock down my computers using other ways.

Jørgen, you are right, users can still change their passwords despite an unchecked 'Change password' box. Then I guess I don't need to be too sad if certain things don't work anyway within the GUI.
