Anyone else see the "Back to the Future" references in their examples? 1.21 gigawatts was, I believe, the amount of energy that Doc needed to send Marty back to the future. In the future, Marty needed to get the time travel car up to 88 mph to jump to another time.

Those Google folks are so hip.

yeah...The DeLorean had to hit 88 MPH at the exact time the Nuclear Reactor delivered the Flux Capacitor 1.21 GW of power inorder to rupture the space-time continuum and let the DeLorean travel through time. In the 1st movie, he got sent back too far, and they didn't have plutonium redily available so they used a lightning bolt for the 1.21GW of power.

Do we know that it was actually a nuclear reactor? It couldn't have been in the traditional sense, they didn't have to add water, nor deal with toxic waste. Perhaps those lightstrings in the Flux Capacitor converted the plutonium directly into energy using a previously unknown process.

On another note, I'd kill for a Mr. Fusion. :)
