Use the Home button in Safari to open a new tab
Authored by: SYFer on Aug 04, '03 01:47:32PM

For the many of us who use a three-button mouse, the middle button is usually defaulted to 'Cmd-N' (which is "new page" in Safari). I have have simply re-configged that button to 'Cmd-T' in Safari (the setting is application-specific) to open a new tab.

Don't overlook the the powerful ability to customize those extra mouse buttons for you favorite apps.

Use the Home button in Safari to open a new tab

Thanks for this hint, SYFer. I reprogrammed my clicking scroll button to cmd-t for Camino as well as Safari. Why this had never occurred to me before, I don't know.

Excellent reminder that MouseWorks (for my Kensington mouse) can do more than just occupy space among my System Prefs.

Use the Home button in Safari to open a new tab

I've mapped the middle button to cmd, so if I want a link to open in a new window, I just middle click it.

Middle Button
Authored by: Jacques on Aug 05, '03 09:40:53AM

Middle button for me (scroll wheel button) is command click, that way it functions as an "open new tab" button in Safari. Right button is control-click, for contextual menus.

Using HOME as a new tab button, in my situation - is a great idea! Previously I've had it set as 'open bookmarks', really a dupe button since that's on the bookmarks menu bar already.
