Run the Windows version of Unreal Tournament in OS X
Authored by: reisschuessel on Jul 28, '03 03:09:32PM

I wonder if there is a similar way to use the Windows version of Unreal Tournament (1) in Mac OS 9 or X.
I'm aware that it is somewhat diffrent than ID games but maybe...
I ask this because it is impossible for me to get a Mac version of the game (in germany) but the demo plays very well on my iBook :-)
Thanks! Niels

Run the Windows version of Unreal Tournament in OS X

The reason why this hint works is because the 'Updater' contains all of the necessary files to play Q3, with the exception of the .pk3 files.

You might be able to install the PC version of UT on a Mac, but this would likely require installing the game on a PC first, copying the UT directory to your mac, and then copying the OSX update to UT to the UT directory. The directory structures for each game is different too (some of the files in the System directory on the PC need to go in the root of the UT directory on the mac).

I figured it out by myself. It's so simple that i didn't even think about this solution.
Install the PC version on your pc and then patch it up to version 436 using the win-update. Then copy the whole thing over to your mac and put the "Unreal Tournament X" files (search versiontracker for it) in your UT folder.
And then... it works!
