Split long tracks for burning to multiple CDs
Authored by: chabig on Jun 20, '03 04:58:19PM

I've been burning audio books to CD for about 6 months (so I can listen to them in my car) using the Get Info technique.

I just noticed today that iTunes 4 automatically splits long files into multiple CDs. Don't do anything special, make a playlist with one audio book, and click burn. iTunes tells you that the audio is too long to fit on one CD, do you want to go ahead and burn to multiple CDs. Say yes and it will ask for one CD after another until the entire file is burned.

Very nice!

Chris

What if I have a single track that will fit on my mp3 player, but want it to have track or index marks at 1 or 5 minute intervals so that when I stop and come back, I don't have to fast forward so much?

In the past, I have used mpgtx to split the file before importing, but some mp3s aren't recognized by mpgtx and I can't split them.

Chris,

I tried this with Panther (10.3.1) and iTunes 4.1 and the CD would burn track 1 the right length and then get hungup and never finish the rest of the CD. What OS are you using?

Got some audio books from the Apple Music store I would love to listen to in the car.
