Install the no-ip.com client as a system service
No need for this, just install it with fink. 'fink install noip'
wrong permissions for config file?
it seems that the fink install method sets wrong passwords to the /sw/etc/no-ip.conf config file, so that the no-ip daemon cannot see it at startup (watch console log for errors). Actual permissions for that file are rw------- (600), I changed them to rw-r--r-- (644) to make it work.
wrong permissions for config file?
thanks for the tip - I've installed Fink, and now noip... running
correctly connects to the no-ip.com "dynamic client update server" ( dynupdate.no-ip.com ) and updates the info (I used Little Snitch to check noip's connection to that particular server).just in case the ip changes, I've also decided to add a script to /etc/periodic/daily/ (daily tasks run by cron) modeled on a stripped version of the startup script located in /Library/StartupItems/daemonic-noip/ , so that noip would run once a day. cheers! ---

I tried using
fink install noip
but it just shows the following message:
What does that mean? Is there a special installation package for fink? If so, where can I download it?
