Use Image Capture to build image galleries with any folder
Authored by: osxpounder on Jun 03, '03 04:12:32PM

This is a very nice tip! I have never used Image Capture because I own no devices yet that would connect to it. I'd never have dreamed it could be useful to me, esp. in this way: making a web page gallery of images in a folder.

I tried it on my generic "Images" folder, where I put any and all images that I have no category for. I ran this script, and it quickly made a web gallery of some 89 images [but not folders], in the background.

It failed to handle some image formats, and it didn't do a thing for subfolders within my Images folder, but for such a quick and easy gallery, I'm grateful enough!

The script places one new folder in whichever folder you've chosen to create a gallery for, called "index" ... inside that folder is one web page, "index.html", and one folder, "indexfiles", that has all the thumbnails, image pages, and images within. It appears to copy the images; my originals remain in their original folder and this new "index" folder is ready to be put on a web server or zipped up and emailed.

Thanks much!
