LCD USB ports may work a bit better for Palm synch
Authored by: jonahlee on Jun 02, '03 10:13:56AM

Yea, since moving to OS X I have had PALM syncing issues. many times starting the sync, then stoppping it, then having to unpug and replug the USB adapter, and then on hitting hotsync again it will sync. That was on a Dual 800 G4 connected in a Blekin hub. I recently got a dual 1.42 Gig and a Macally hub, and the Palm sync seems to be fine now.

LCD USB ports may work a bit better for Palm synch

I cannot confirm about the LCD USB ports, but I just fixed my problem by switching the Palm USB-Serial adaptor from my Belkin USB hub to a USB port on my USB 2.0 PCI card (any internal USB connection would probably be the same). I use the Belkin USB hub in conjunction with a manual KVM switch to allow my PC and Mac to share the Palm cradle. It works OK with my PC, but the Mac has never had consistency in syncing.

But- as a footnote: if it is any consolation, my PC running XP seems to have needed me to switch the driver for the USB-Serial adaptor from the official "signed" Micro$oft driver to the "unsigned" Palm driver in order to work! If I left it with the "official" Microsoft driver, the whole computer would just reboot randomly! (And they say that you can't crash XP!!! HA!!)
