SLIMP3 server (I can't create playlists)
I never see the "popup list of SLIMP3 clients", and don't seem to be able to create play lists. It seems determined to tell me that I don't have the device. (May actually buy one, it looks very cool)

I think before you will see the ip in the drop down menu you will have to connect to the server with iTunes. Open iTunes and "Open URL..." http://localhost/stream.mp3 (or whatever host you are using), then click the play button as if you were playing that URL. No sound will appear at first, but I believe if you now switch back to the SlimMP3 interface and reload the page the IP will now show up in the server list drop down menu.

Well, that helped... now I at least get the drop down player list. Still no sound, though...(I can hear alerts & other system sounds just fine). I've tried using both my IP address, and just "localhost" in the iTunes "open stream" dialog.

You might need to open port 9000 on your firewall - even if it is a local connection. Of note - whatever shows up in your drop down menu is exactly what you have to use in iTunes... they must match. So 127.0.0.1 is not teh same as localhost.. even though it is. |
