Ahhhh - so its not as sophisticated as I was hoping for. Some of the past Applescripts will actually collect what needs to be backed up comparing with past backups, etc. The built-in iTunes "Backup" is no more than burning a data cd....

Could always just use Retrospect and back up your iTunes folder as a sub-volume ....

Well there are of course 100 different methods of manually backing up the MP3 files.... I think what I was looking for was a nice integrated iTunes backup method. No muss no fuss... iTunes keeps an eye on whats new and needs to be backed up, creates CD (or DVD) size disk images with just the files to backup, then all you have to do is burn the image. At least thats my pipe dream...
