No Need to Rename

You can use the 3ivx Direct Show codec available at 3ivx.com to play the AAC files in Windows Media Player 9 (and probably earlier versions) without having to rename your files. Just associate the m4a files with WMP, and double click your favorite AAC audio file. WMP will ask you if the file format is safe. Just click the check box to never ask you again, hit Yes, and out come your music.
