The documentation is correct about 8GB. The trick, though, is that
there are small, invisible partitions at the beginning of the drive for
the disk driver, partition map, etc. These small partitions typically
take up 50-100MB, which means that your OS X partition must be
7.9GB (or even a little less) in order for it to fit within the first 8GB
of the drive.
