Don't know how to send faxes
Authored by: jjgb on May 01, '03 01:58:10PM

I own a Brother MFC-4800 and installed the drivers (v1.3) yesterday. However, I haven't figured out how to send faxes from my Mac. I tried using the RemoteSetup application (in /Library/Printers/Brother/Utilities/RemoteSetup) but it fails to start, with the following message:

Time-out error.
Make sure that:
-Brother PC-FAX is not running
-the MFC is not in function mode
-the MFC is not sendina a fax or receiving fax,
-the MFC is not printing or scanning
-the MFC is not machine error

I couldn't find any documentation. Any help will be appreciated.

Simply select the "Send Fax" item from the popup menu in the
"Print..." dialog, enter the fax# (or select a saved one from the
list), then click on the Print button. Yeah, I know; it should say
"Fax" but it works.

Actually the problem was that the Send Fax item did not appear in the menu. I solved it by restarting the MFC. However, I'm still unable to use the RemoteSetup app.
