FTPing from Safari

Ok this is probably a bit of Newbie question but the first poster asked it and it never got answered.

How to you get Safari to TRY ftp?

Right now I click on an FTP link and safari opens the link in explorer! The first poster seems to have his links opened in the finder (which would be find by me).

I'd like to do the opposite - ie. enable my machine to open
another browser rather than mount FTP folders in Finder.

Why? Well I'm finding FTP mounts and unmounts in Finder are
making my Mac unstable.

So, if you know how to change the behaviour when an FTP link
is clicked in Safari please post here or email me
(surfsofa<at>mac.com)

Thanks :)

I have the same problem...when I type in an FTP address into Safari, it just redirects it to IE (bleh!). On my other computer, it works fine (opens in Finder) and it used to work on this one, but some preference must have been changed. Any help would be appreciated!

Clicking on ftp-links in Safari 1.2 on my machine opens a new window and that was all (no difference with or without passive transfer mode set as expected). My solution: I remembered the MoreInternet Preference Pane from
http://www.monkeyfood.com/software/MoreInternet/
it's a great freeware. For the ftp-protocol there was an formerly used and recently deleted app mentioned. I just set up a new entry for ftp and without any question the old entry was overwritten by a new one with the Finder as application.
