Safari Beta 2 released
I'm a long-time Chimera/Camino user who always preferred its speed and tabs
over Safari, despite the fact that the latest builds are not localized in French. I
love that Safari is localized.
This Safari beta is nearly there for me, but I have a couple of issues which may take me back to Camino: 1. It feels slower. Could be a cache issue at this point, so I'll keep playing with it for a few days until the cache is loaded with all the graphics and stuff from sites I hit regularly, then we'll see. 2. The bookmarks take bloody forever to display; well, actually, like three seconds after clicking on the bookmarks menu, but still. I imported them from Camino where they appear almost instantly. They're around 285K, so maybe I should get in there and cull them. 3. This is the biggy. I run a weblog, World New York, on pMachine Pro. I use a content manager called pMachine. When using special characters in posts, such as an em-dash, they are automatically rendered in XHTML by the weblog software; characters such as quote marks and apostrophes which are entered as inch or foot marks (" or ') are converted to curved quotes where necessary, according to a rule set. But when using Safari to edit posts which have these extended characters, whether I enter them manually or they are auto-converted by Safari, they are changed to question marks. This behavior does not occur in the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Camino or Mozilla. ---
Safari Beta 2 released
That should say, "auto-converted by pMachine." |
