Belkin USB Hubs (not really a 10.2 issue)
Authored by: knowmad on Apr 08, '03 11:53:29PM

I have had two computers recently have problems with belkin hubs. Both times the specific problem was that the mouse would stop working. Keyboard worked fine, mouse simply did not responed (though the optical light would dim and brighten with use and disuse as per normal, the mouse icon did not move no matter what) the fix turned out to be removing the belkin 4 port hub and rebooting. I spent a whole workday testing it because I could not believe that could be the problem, but it turned out to be true.
just to be thourough, the mouse and keyboard (mouse plugged into keyboard) were plugged directly into the mac on one machine and into the hub ont he other. I tried updated software for the other preiphrals, I tried several diffarent chain orders for the USB chain, including mouse directly into machine, mouser and keyboard into hub together and seprate, and for the sheer fun of it, two hubs with he devices spread among them. The problem returned within twenty minutes in all instrances where a hub was plugged in.
The OS, BTW was 10.2.3, but the problem only showed up in classic or when loaded in 9.2.2 so i think its a classic/9 issue not really a 10.2 issue.
